Default Perez out and Vettel in at Aston Martin for 2021

Looks like the long rumored switch is happening.

Good to see Seb won't be put out to pasture at 33 years of age. Unless Ferrari somehow fix what is wrong with their car, Seb will surely be ahead of Charles and Carlos. And it would be great to see him on the top step of the podium in the pink car next year.

Perez has developed into a strong driver within that team. He has brought them along well and remains motivated.

Seb? Not so much, IMO. Not bashing him, just saying he’s been in this game a long time, won four WDC’s, but has been consistently outshone by Charles...

I have no reason not to like Sharl but seeing how they treated Vettel I am hoping he thumps Ferrari next year.

I wonder if RP/Aston Martin will still have a one year old Mercedes next year after all the protests this year?

He has to finish ahead of Lance first who IMO has come a long way since the season began. If that doesn't happen he'll be even sulkier than he is now.

New team, Mercedes power, hopefully same agreement as this year with Mercedes parts - this move should be reminiscent of when he first arrived at Ferrari. Certainly those pink cars have potential, so personally, I think it will be fun to watch what develops with a driver that is capable of winning in a RP car.

Would be nice to see Perez land in a Haas - but seems like a long shot as he has done an alright job on track, and a deserves a seat after keeping things intact from Force India -> RP transition.

Being branded Aston Martin, I doubt they will copy the Merc.
It's just bad marketing

seems like a backward step on the driving front given Vettel's form over the last few years. expect Vettel will generate more cash from sponsors etc. High risk for Vettel if Stroll beats him.

If Stroll beats him, he has no place in a top team...

Given Mercedes owns a chunk of AM and supplies them engines and electronics, I suspect the sharing will only increase.

Probably a partnership like Haas has with Ferrari

Does anyone know what the 2022 rules say about part sharing? Buying engines is one thing, but copying the most successful car are on the grid is another - makes it hard for teams who are independent constructors such as Williams.

There is a list of parts you are allowed to buy (like Haas does)
Then you can copy the parts you want but based on pictures (meaning you can't copy internals or buy the design)

I also think this is a step backwards.

Perez seems to be in his prime and Vettel is on a decline.

Maybe daddy Stroll wanted more of a coach for Jr. as compared to a competitor/teammate.
