Say goodbye to the Autoclub Speedway roadcourse
Looks like Nascar (ISC) has submitted plans with the county to tear down the 2 mile oval and replace it with a half mile oval. So that means the infield roadcourse would be eliminated. Sucks for us in SoCal as this is the closest thing we have to a local track (only a 1.5 hour drive for me, everything else is about 4+ hours away).

Sucks for the road racers, but I think the idea is to eliminate a boring super Speedway and replace it with a more interesting short course. Hopefully a road course can be incorporated but I'm not seeing how that's possible looking at the plan.

See ya fontucky
i never really enjoyed the track for DE but i know the club racers really liked it, but it was a track and not too far away about an hour.... bummer
the facilities were pretty nice too, much nicer than most of the tracks in SoCal outside thermal.

Does this make sense considering NASCAR races there exactly 1 day a year? About 12 years ago the track rental was ~ $56k per weekend. If they eliminate the road course they will have to make up that revenue somehow

It's possible to have a road course that extends outside the oval portion of the track. NHMS and Thompson (both smaller ovals) come to mind.

I think they sell or lease the land, this area has turned into a massive warehouse and distribution hub for all the online businesses.... constant warehouse construction in this area and the communities around it.

That would likely mean the death of the kart track too. If you look at the drawing it appears that the pits and garages stay, but the current front straightaway becomes the back straightaway and all of the stadium seating is moved. That opens up the whole back lot for redevelopment. A friend of mine who is a circle track racer thinks it could be good for them. There are a lot of local and traveling series that could use a half mile oval in the area.

We have a number of decent tracks in Cali. We will loose ACS and probably loose Laguna. I have lived here all my life. This place gets suckier every day and the speed of the suckage is accelerating.

They really do not need to do that. With all the work from home sticking there will be plenty of cheap storage/CRE in the city and a bunch of Homeless for cheap labor source.
