FIA 8856-2018, the new FIA homologation for Race wear
Since 2020 sees a new FIA homologation introduced for race wear we thought you might enjoy a brief snapshot of the new regulation. This means race suits, gloves, boots and under garments have to meet stricter new regulations and be submitted for harsher testing in order to better protect you.

I see guys at the track all the time with really old suits. Although it is a lot of money the advances in technology, which makes a suit both lighter while a the same time more fire resistant, is what made me upgrade.
That being said, I had wayyyy more than 20 days on my first race suit. Probably several hundred before it got retired.
Is there any data to the breakdown in fire resistance?

There is no way ANYONE will dump a $$$$ race suit after wearing it 20 times. That's absurd and clearly in the self interest of the manufacturers
