CAYMAN S AT SUMMIT POINT | FEATURING APEX 18” SM-10 WHEELS

Here’s a first look at our customer and RL member Kyle's NASA TT4 built 987.1 Porsche Cayman S wearing the all-new APEX livery designed by Andy Blackmore. This livery may be familiar to some of you West Coasters, as it can also be seen on our company specE46 race car! After months of preparation, this Cayman S was finally ready for its first shakedown of the year at Summit Point Motorsports Park with PCA. What a year to build a new race car, eh?

After having spent the last few years successfully racing his 2002 Subaru WRX in NASA TT3 in the Mid Atlantic/Northeast Regions, Kyle decided to change gears a bit and pilot something completely different. What is more different than an all-wheel drive, turbo 4 cylinder, Japanese sport sedan? A 6 cylinder, mid-engined, rear wheel drive, German sports car!

This machine features our Porsche specific 18" SM-10 wheels, which offer a significant reduction in rotational mass while simultaneously increasing wheel widths and strength to stand up to repetitive abuse on track. These wheels also features knurled beading along the barrel to reduce unwanted tire slippage that can occur as a tire rotates on a wheel under high load maneuvers. Pair these features with an open-lug recess for quick wheel swaps in the pits, and you have a wheel that is ready to tackle any HPDE's or club races. The 18x9" and 18x10" wheel specifications and respective weights are compliant with the PCA Spec Cayman rulebook, and that was an important factor for Kyle as he prepares the car and himself for that exciting series. In the interim, you can catch this beautifully built car running in NASA TT4, PCA Time Trials and SCCA TT.

We look forward to following Kyle's (@hoytoy89) progression as a driver and we hope you enjoy the photos captured in the paddock and on track.

Always good to have a goal in mind prior to kicking off a new build.

Default Effect of the Mods

It would be interesting to know if this APEX Cayman had been TT'd prior to all those delicious mods...all the right stuff. Then we could see the net effect in the form of reduced lap times.
