I've been told by some 'if you use that fuel disaster will result; it's too slow burning it's only for planes it won't rev and and and'. I've been told by other old timers 'AvGas is all we ever used in our race motors its great'. my personal experience is that 'it's great!!'. FYI no O2 sensors in my Lotus (except when I'm tuning and rejetting it; then I put in a wide band and after I'm done I take it out so that it doesn't get lead fouled).

PS i also use the 100LL exclusively in my snowblowers, mowers, chainsaws, generator, etc etc. there is no ethanol in it at all. and there are preservatives in it. my snow blower will start right up after sitting for 3+ yrs with no issues. same for chainsaw etc. it's good stuff for old small engines.
Tried to buy it at my local airport and they won't sell to pedestrians. I also hear a lot of different opinions on the stuff. Glad it's worked for you.

The Sullivans have been running boostane in their cup cars for the last two years. They mix it in jugs and watch the ratios carefully. You may want to talk to them next time you see them at the track.

I only use it on the big tracks with lots of 5th gear WOT action.
Because race fuel is formulated to burn faster, the initial pressure on the down stroke is higher, thus more HP than regular pump gas. Race fuel also has a higher vaporization rate and thus provides more cooling to the intake valve

@ WOT, high RPM; valve cooling is a BIG factor for an air cooled motor.

Water cooled heads was the evolutionary step

Since moving to the west coast, I have been mixing toluene with 91oct to make 93oct+. I find it easy to do (add approx 1 gal toluene with every 9 gal fill up of 91oct), cheap (1 gallon of toluene is $15), and easy to source (I purchase a couple of 5gal jugs at a local paint supply store). The MMT based boosters like Torco will foul spark plugs quickly and I didn't want to deal with doing frequent plug changes on my 996TT. It has been working great, and data logging shows no knock or timing retard which I was getting a lot of with 91oct.
If I had better access to E85, I would probably do that instead. This was just the best all around solution I could come up with.
