Default Time to go - selling my Cayman and trailer

Hard to believe but I am ending 24 years of the most exciting and rewarding sport/hobby ever. 353 track days, 5 different cars, 3 different trailers, and 12 different tracks. And 4,357 Rennlist posts. It was amazing.
So, first off, the Super Cayman is for sale; I'll post the details and more pictures in a few days. My dedicated track car, loving crafted by Spencer ***, Bryan Shute, Chris Provan, and the race team at Speed Sport Tuning in Danbury CT in 2014, she was everything - more than everything - that I could ever dream of. The car was perfect. And looked the part, thanks to Dan Porter.
Speed Sport will be handling the sale for the car and also the Haulmark 24' enclosed trailer.
Why? - during the last couple of years I just haven't felt the enthusiasm for track days that I used to. I blame it on our move to the coast of Maine, which is just so darned nice that I don't want to leave - even for track events. If I was still in my super-enthusiastic stage, I'd still be at it, but after all of these years, its time for something different.
And boy will I miss the camaraderie, the fun challenge of becoming a better driver, and working with novice drivers.
My deepest thanks to the many very special people that helped me maximize the fun and safety, including:
* Paul Tosi of Autotechnica, who cared for my air-cooled track cars
* Speed Sport, who helped me define my perfect car, built with a level of skill that few possess, and kept her performing at an incredibly high and reliable level
* Scott Leder, Dave Scott, Peter Argetsinger, Peter Krause, and other coaches, who taught me the difference between driving and DRIVING (apologies that I never did master late braking). And made me a much better instructor.
* All of the track volunteers, without whom we would not be able to do what we do
* My many friends - my best friends are my track friends
* John Dunkle, who brought Rennlist to life
* And all of you, who taught me, entertained me, and helped me spend my track budget wisely
Sure has been fun...

Oh man! I'm sad to see you go, but I understand. Someone is going to get an amazing car.

Where are you in Maine (again). Jay is in Westport at his place up there right now.

Default Can relate

I’m at 20 years . Six different track cars . Now a spec cayman S . Five different tow vehicles. Currently a hemi Durango . Three different trailers . One enclosed two open . Now with an open featherlight . I can see this decision in my near future. It’s been super fun. Such great memories.such great interactions with great people . I’m happy to see your post. See you at a car show or a concourse or spectating at a club race or weathertech race .

That sounds familiar!
I may still instruct once in awhile, but still have the 'I love Maine and don't want to leave' problem.

Rick - sorry to see you go. You should be able to sell your car as a GTB1 car. It will be gone in a heartbeat.

Rick will be missed...many of us sort of grew up with Rick through his posts on RENNLIST: We watched his cars, and Rick's driving develop over time. Good Luck to you...if you are lucky, we hear that Down East is a great spot. https://visitmaine.com/places-to-go/downeast-and-acadia

Rick, I'm kinda in the same "comfort" boat but in a different way--I'm so comfortable driving the three tracks that I do that don't really want to learn any new ones! And in recent years some really nice ones have popped up, along with the old "bucket list" tracks, but it's just easier and still very satisfying to do the 10-12 days each per year at "my" three tracks (WGI, Mid-O and Mosport; could be worse ).....

So stay well--the Mini will miss the draft it picked up when you went flying by in that awesome car; whoever buys it is getting something really special.

Thank you, Frank - your advice was a big part of helping me get it built right.
Though I didn't race, we kept it spec'd and ready in case the next owner wanted to race.
