Will a 285/30/18 hoosier fit on a 9.5" rim?

Hoosier recommends 10.5-11.5" wheels for these tires, but I know a lot of guys are using the 285s on 10" rims; will they fit on anything narrower w/o wearing the shoulder out prematurely?

I would think that would not work. I would not want to squeeze a R compound tire that is going to be pushed to its limits on to a rim that may be .5 to 1 inch too small.

I have put a 285 hoosier on a 10" rim and that was a bit tight. Would not try a 9.5" rim. Maybe a 275 on a 9.5" rim but not a 285.
