smarty cam hd help. PLEASE.
I run a motec 187 and a smartycam HD. Sadly, it has been almost 2 years since i have driven my car due to parental health stuff the last couple years. Anyway, I am trying to get things ready to return to the track
whence things are turned back on. Got things updated firmware/software wise on the motec without issue. just want to update the firmware on the SCHD. If i open smartymanager 2 alone, it stays open. if i try to click on the
web update button, it opens the window and then it goes opaque and the spinning wheel comes up. it never does anything else. i have version 2.03.04. not sure what the current version is. if i connect my camera, the program crashes just after it recognizes camera. i found a notification on the aim website that talks about AVG anti virus crashing the program. followed those directions to add an exception for aim files. did not solve the issue. i have had AVG on since i have used this laptop and never had a problem with using smarty manager. anyone have any suggestions?

Use RS3 to update the SCHD. https://aim-sportline.com/en/sw-fw-download.htm They rolled the SCHD config into RS3. I haven't used SmartyManager 2 in a real long time.

Download RS3, connect the camera and perform the fw update.

I have the same issue (SM2 crashing once SmartyCam HD is attached). Which application is now used to create (design) the data overlay for videos created with SmartyCam HD?

Agree. I installed RS3 in order to update SCHD firmware. Haven't yet been able to figure out how to use RS3 to design a data overlay for the video; similar to what I currently have designed/configured in SM2. Still working on it.

Smarty Manager was the first software replaced by Race Studio 3. As Jeff said, you can connect to the camera via USB and “Receive” the current config.
Make changes and save under a different name, in case you want to go back.
Also, load the tracks you’re going to to the SmartyCam to show maps on the background.

Thanks Peter. My setup consists of all older gear: SmartyCam HD, EVO 4, G-Dash, CAN Hub, BPS, TPS. For some reason I thought the newer RS3 software was not compatible with some of the the older components. Do I need any of the older software for any purpose: Smarty Manager 2, RS2 ?, GPS Manager ?
