To me it feels overhyped lol!

For me, actually breaking into the corkscrew... the blind crest over the hill Turn 7.... and then Turn 9... after the corkscrew are the far more complicated, and a bit scary braking zone and turn to master!...
Did Laguna Seca with Skip Barber in 1999. I was too busy driving to notice any appreciable elevation change. Nice series of turns but nothing to write home about. I actually think the stretch leading onto the front straight at VIR ( think it is called HogPen) has more of an elevation change. It just is not as twisty.
Here is my 933 doing Laguna Seca at Rennsport Reunion in 2018. https://www.google.com/search?client...Tn5ANMQ4dUDCAs Takes him about 3 laps to get around the "blockers" then watch out. He qualified 5 seconds faster than a like car (#16). THis is a 2.0 liter car out there with 935s, 934s and GTRs.

Agree with the locals here. The corkscrew is essentially a non-event, or a blip on the entire lap. Turn 9 is the stomach dropper, and for me turn 6 is where it's at. Once you learn how much track exit there is at turn 6, you can really go through there with some serious speed to get momentum up the hill. I see the setup for 6 as a good opportunity to pass before the corkscrew. The corkscrew just gives you a second to rest after that, lol. I've only been there once, but it was for an endurance race so I turned hundreds of laps. I literally giggled every time I went through 6 because of how much noise my tires made, and how close to the limit the car was.
