Default Pray for Ryan Newman

One of the worst wrecks we've seen in a long time to close out the 2020 Daytona 500.

Ryan Newman taken away via ambulance, no word on his condition.

Yes, it looked pretty bad and I'd swear that there was fuel pouring out of the rear near the fire. I was just waiting for it to ignite. Hope he's OK.

Agreed, that was horrible. My first thought was "****, lost another one".

Jeff is clearly shaken up making the closing statements for the broadcast

I was standing up yelling 'GET OUT' at my TV, but obviously I missed the secondary impact that he took. Horrific crash, praying that he's OK.

And someone on Hamlin's stand needed to tell him to cool it with the celebration...not sure he would've known the severity from the cockpit, but someone surely saw the wreck on TV.

Reports on social media claim people heard on the radio Nascar telling Hamlin to go celebrate like usual to take focus off the crash scene.

Wow. If that's true I find it incredibly disturbing.

Times like this social media is much more of a curse than a blessing. No idea what to believe and all sorts of random comments popping up.

Probably shouldn't of even shared that. I was refreshing the various sites looking for an update, had to turn it all off.

NASCAR and Roush racing trying to stop the speculation. They have not made a statement yet though. Prayers for Ryan. I was so hoping he was going to win it, now thus......

From what I saw of Hamlin he looked fairly subdued--Gordon and Mike Joy definitely were.

I just wish to god they could get through one of these things w/o all the f***ing mayhem at the end; it seems to happen every year.

And I watch it, every year.

That was an incredibly hard hit that totally deformed the roll cage right at the driver's door

After a big hit into the wall. Shades of Hubert; big hit crumples the car and a second hit right in the door.

Hamlin stayed classy. Turned it on after the wreck but everything felt off and it set off that "something's wrong" feeling even through the TV. Take the focus off the crash??? - they all know but for the grace of God it could have been them.

The wreck didn't look that bad until the t-bone hit in the driver's window - absolutely cringe-worthy - prayers indeed.

Restrictor plate races are always like this. Hard to avoid at 190mph and 30 cars all driving in a big pack. And let’s not kid ourselves; many fans watch for these wrecks.
