WGI DE - How many is too many?
How many DE cars on-track at one time is too many for The Glen? I just checked out the attendee list for an upcoming event I'm going to. There are 61 cars signed up for my run group (containing both Blue and White drivers).
I assume there is a point where traffic gets just too annoying. How many is too many for WGI?

I've done a couple events at WGI with that many cars on the track and I didn't really enjoy it. There will inevitably be slow cars/drivers who don't give prompt point-by's, which leads to trains building up quickly. Also, with that many cars, black-flagged sessions are inevitable when people break down or crash. If it's an advanced group where everybody is fast, then it may not be so bad.

Thundermoose: What, you can only drive if you have the track to yourself? I know you want to do two laps by yourself and set a class track record.
OP: WGI is fast and flowing and as long as your fellow drivers are aware and courteous and you have expanded passing it should be fine. By the way managing traffic is part of the track experience. I normally line up near the rear of field so I get to meet and interact with my fellow drivers.

We had 57 in the Black group a couple weeks ago. I thought it was fine and have no complaints. I got lots of clean laps and was by my self for large periods of time, but I was usually in the first row of cars to go out. I only remember getting held up once when I ran into a group of 5 in the bus stop that I think had some White drivers getting checkouts, but the car I was chasing and myself were both through them all by the heel. Good awareness and traffic management from everyone.
What’s funny to me is I was looking through the pictures of the sessions, and I saw cars I had no idea were in my group. Never saw them the whole weekend. You would think you’d line up near someone at least once, but not with that many cars.

No extended passing in this group. Blue is an instructed group and White doesn't do extended passing. But hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. I don't mind a little traffic. I like having people to chase down, and well-moving traffic livens up a session. Trains, on the other hand...
