Default GT2 RS sets production car lap record at Road America – David Donohue onboard camera

That's moving pretty good!!!

Considering the weather around here lately, I'm guessing the ambient temp was in the 40's during this run.

FWIW, at the 2013 SCCA Runoffs at Road America, I qualified 4th in stock 2008 GT3 Cup car with a time of 2:15.3. Trent Hindman was fastest qualifying time in a Cup car at 2:14.4.

Ah, LOVE that Porsche and Michelin are using the VBOX HD2, for sure.

That’s a damned good lap for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, which are a regular production option on the new cars.

Considering a Gen IV Viper ACR was 2:20 and the gen V crushes the older ACR's I am surprised the GT2 wasn't much faster. It beat the Gen V ACR at the Ring so I would have thought close to 2:05-10 would have been possible (maybe the track was too cold that day)

And the GT3 RS just several ticks slower... and slightly quicker through the Kink!

Looked to be a lot of understeer in the GT2, likely due to the cold temps

It's fascinating comparing the data, specifically the relationship between braking and turning, as well as speed and amplitude of the steering, finished with throttle progression, between Randy and David. I believe the rate and amplitude, as well as WHERE that happens in relation to the car's position in the corner, has a material effect on how much this car understeers in this lap, versus the Atlanta lap.

Ambient temps were not far off, and the same controls (warmers, pressures, temps) were in place thanks to Jim Knowles and the other Michelin engineers for both tests.

No way, Steve.

Pole time for last year's IMSA GT3 Cup race was Robichon's 2:11 flat.

Gomez, in a 991.1 GT3 Cup (Gold Class Champion) did a fast lap of 2:14.3

You're talking FOUR-plus miles here...

pretty fast times on street tires wow!

Kindof a bummer though that porsche did this as an after thought to what dimakos and sellars did there last summer during the PCA club race with the gt2-rs vs gt3 cup comparison

I’ll add my obligatory “crikey mazes”. I wonder if I could get ozzy man to review a compilation of these record videos. Probably not.

Watching the video again, I think it might be a cheat code. Something like contra; up shift, up shift, down shift, down shift, turn left, turn right, turn left, turn right, turn signal right, turn signal left, start car. . I think hacker is probably the only one that will get that joke.
