Compression Check on a 944
I helping a guy check out a 944 motor this weekend. It is a 944 with the 10.2 pistons. Does anyone have any idea what the compression should be? I know my motor (1987, 9.6 comp ratio motor in a 83 car) has around 155 lbs in each cylinder. So I would guess the 10.2 should be more, but I don't know how much more.
Any help would be appreciated,

You gotta be kidding me. Of all the 944 racers there are that read this list, and nobody checks their compression. I check mine every year, to make sure I don't need a rebuild. I realise all you dudes that, like me, have a 1987 or earlier 9.6 compression ratio motor, that we can't answer the question. But some of you have to have a 88 or later motor, and some you should check your compression, to make sure the motor is still good. Please someone, answer this.

Bill,
I can give you fresh numbers on an 89 951S - comp & leakdown.
I'm with you on this - comp, leak and oil analysis are good early worning systems to prevent a grenade event. No better way apart from pulling the engine down. Good luck with the numbers - did you trY the 944 NA forum here?
