Using Blinkers for Point-By

Yup, this^^^.
In our NNJR DE's, we have a driver who uses hand controls in his car for brake and throttle.
He is the one exception we have (I believe) that is allowed to use his directionals for point by's.
The blinker that is blinking is the side you pass him on.
We go over this in the driver's meetings when this car is at a DE.
It seems to work well for both the driver as well as the cars on the track around him. It works well.
Not sure how well it would work if EVERY car was allowed to use blinkers for point by's. Not sure I'd want to find out either.
Point by's using the hand and arms is a method that is tried and true, and it works. Why fix something that is not already broken?

Thanks.
P.S. I give point-bys and still use my hand controls. There's an interesting way to accomplish that.

I'm very proud of that award. It's just to the right of the bar in the Seneca all the time!

Just wait until the sun is at the right angle to the turn signal light and it looks like you got a passing signal when you didn't.
Happened to me taking a fellow driver for a ride and boy did that door close fast as I zoomed by the very surprised lead car.
Still kicking myself about that one, but ended up ok.

So far using my blinkers in the lower run groups has not been a problem as I'm one of the faster cars.. that will soon change as I move to faster groups.
Dave I'm interested to hear how you do your point bys... initially I was doing a "regular" point by but releasing the hand control wasn't a good idea...

Maybe for people at more advanced levels and with dedicated track cars...
But watching the novice groups run, I can't tell you how many people I've seen with their blinker or windshield wipers running when on the track. Either people not used to wearing gloves or people too focused on learning what an apex is to notice they turned something on.

He has some good experience with the hand controls and point by's. I know this because I pass him all the time (sorry T, it was there).
Anyway, hope you guys can share info and learn from each-other.
NJPyro is noting but pure inspiration to the people he runs with on track.
Hope you two get to chat. Enjoy....
