Default Ford GT superbowl commercial.

Who saw the Ford GT superbowl commercial?
I must say I thought it was pretty impressive.

What track is that?
I thought it was Thunderhill, but now I'm not so sure.

Not sure, but man... watching that car powerslide really got me itching for the track. Best commercial of the SuperBowl. Very well done.

DAMN!! ...I missed it. I kinda liked the donkey wanting to be a Budweiser clydesdale though.

I do wish they'd get off this Janet/Justin thing. It was inappropriate, most would agree, and I've heard enough already!

Have you seen the new Chrysler concept car?? I detest Chrysler, for the most part (okay, the Viper found a soft spot in me) but that new car looks pretty swank.

I think this is it - great ad but I don't think it'll beat out the donkey with the masses... ;-)

OMG!! ...that was incredible. Definitely "eye candy" for the track junkie. I LOVE those cars, a local has a VERY nice "clone" of a GT-40 and I just druel everytime I see it.

Thanks for the link Harry and Bob.

The GT-40 commercial was probably the best one during the Super Bowl. A close second goes to Frank the Chimp.

It was at thunderhill!
I knew that first shot was turn 1!

I wish I could have that commercial on infinite loop as my background...
Best commercial in the superbowl by far...

Damn again, I heard about the Chimp commercial too, guess he was trying to become "one" with a lady friend or something??

Anybody have a link to that one?

I missed that one, had to get some work done in the garage.

Did catch the 1st quarter, halftime show and the last 45min. or so.

It was definitely Thunderhill, and in fact filmed the week of Jan 12th. I spent the 3 days prior at T Hill instructing with the quattro (now "Audi") club DE. As the final sessions were held on Sunday, big Ford and camera crew rigs queued up by the gates, and a helicopter landed at a helipad by the maintenance barn. When I saw the track-level shot of the GT 40 kicking marbles off to the side, I thought cool: some of those could be off the poor rental cars I'd been flogging around the track all weekend!
Brandon

PS: interesting to see the shots the film editor chose to show off the car, in the sense that sometimes the car was cornering well in excess of optimal slip angles. Looks dramatic, but not the fast way around! In any even, just short of mind blowing that Ford is actually building and selling this car. Really a historic event...

I'm not sure if it was the beer in me at the time, but I almost flipped over in my seat... that ad was absolutely great! How many times do you see a supercar act as a main sponsor for a Super Bowl?!?!
