Ecclestone doubts Formula 1 will race in Miami
The retired F1 boss says Liberty Media is too ambitious.... "It will never happen," he said. Street circuits are notoriously hard to organize, and the plans for Miami were too ambitious. "I think the Americans always want a guarantee not to lose money."

Hard to imagine a city in the USA being willing to jump through all of the F1 hoops. They would need to build a substantial garage complex that would be used for one weekend a year plus other infrastructure that likely would effect year around traffic. It would be a pretty all in move, politicians like to talk about this stuff but making it happen is a whole different deal. Having said that they put the tax payers on the hook for that ridiculous baseball stadium so who knows?

I'd love to see another F1 race in the US, but not on a street circuit, so ***** Bernie is probably right. Before another race in the US, I'd prefer to see some of the Middle East races eliminated.

Street circuits for F1 in the US have long run their course i.e. Dallas, Detroit, Phoenix, Long Beach (though IIRC the latter was pretty highly thought of back in the day).....still have vivid memories of the Indycars leaving the ground after running over the manhole covers in Baltimore

So, the theory is organizers can always lure REAL race fans to the great American tracks like Sebring, VIR, Watkins Glen, and Road America. But the tracks are out in the boonies and REAL race fans are willing to spend a couple of nights camping at the track. Organizers believe the real money is in DAY TRIPPERS, who are willing to drive in to the city to watch from catered tents...then drive home for dinner and sleep in their own beds. Thus the mid-town street races.

I flagged some of the downtown Miami Grand Prix races. IMSA & CART, Bikes, vintage.
The bay was lined with yachts, and all the hotels with views of the tracks had big parties in the rooms.
Fisher Island ran a ferry to the race, so the mega rich can get in and out.
If you wanted to created a Monte Carlo type image in the US, Miami isn't a bad choice. -other than the city is broke, and the track it self was horrible for all the races.

Yeah, all them high-falutin' teams would get a real kick out of stayin' at the Lodge when the Harbor's full up
Going to the Glen is like going back in time, which helps to make it what it is.....but it's not close to being enough to accomodate today's F1 circus.
