Rain Lights - PCA Club Racing
I drove the enduro this year at Summit Point and it was raining pretty hard at certain points. I remember bearing down on turn 1 a few times thinking, "God, I hope no one is spun in the middle of the track because I can't see anything." The spray was enormous and totally obscured my vision.
Making matters worse, not everyone had turned their lights on so a few cars were all but invisible until you were right up on them.
I'm thinking a rain light would make racing in the rain far less dangerous. Rain lights cost less than $100 and a little bit more than that to have professionally install.

I really think it is something which would improve safety as well as making it more pleasant to drive since we would have a better idea of where cars were on the road.
Among the people that race in the rain what are the thoughts out there?

I have already suggested that to Vicki and Walt. It would help if others made the same suggestion.

We require them in BMWCCA and NASA and they make things SO much safer. Also, that Pegasus light is garbage. You want either the Lifeline FIA light or the Cartek FIA light.

Good idea. Also probably a good idea if I can get the guys to make the fast setting on my wipers work....I spent that same Enduro on medium speed the whole time!

During the Summit race I was looking out my side window at times to see where I was. I can only imagine how bad it was on medium speed!
Lastly, I sent an email to Walt advocating a rule change. For the relatively small price I think the safety benefit is enormous.

I also put in my email that I believe the rule should be that you have to run with your lights on if it is raining in addition to the rain light.
It would make racing in the rain much more enjoyable if you could actually see the other cars!

need to submit a rules change proposal when the window opens, just emailing Walt raises the issue to the fore, which is good, but there's a process to follow and it takes time and only happens once a year I think. I mention this only to save Walt's inbox

which version? kinda like the one w rain light and hazard.

should a rain light be flashing or static when in low vis wet conditions?

All the more reason for a rain light!
If it keeps us all safe it is a good idea.
Walt is a reasonable guy so perhaps we can make a rule change happen by 2020 with a suggestion for 2019.
