After some further research it looks like they use the front stretch.https://www.sebringraceway.com/sebri...ng-drag-racing

Drifting
Maybe people should learn there lesson and stop doing high speed straight line events on the front straight of road courses. A guy just lost his head (literally) in a GT-R at NOLA a few months ago.

Plenty of run off
Sure.. That sounds safe enough. Plenty of run off room at the end of the front straight.
Nice big tire walls at the end of the front straight to slow cars down.
What could go wrong???

I totally agree but why would the track even try this.

Track has been doing drag racing for years. The jet car has made regular appearances. Here's a boring video from two years ago. You can pretty much skip forward to 1:45. A whole lotta noise, then it disappears into the darkness. Witnesses say it impacted the front straight wall and came apart. There's a PCA event at Sebring this weekend.

That is so sad. Young woman. She posted about being excited about the event and used the hashtag #respectthebumps.
I would wonder if the concrete paddock extending between T16 and T17 might be better for drag racing as it is so wide. Either way it's very bumpy and limited runoff.

Apparently the track walk went on as planned early Friday morning with the PCA Suncoast region (the next day).
I remember seeing the PCA drivers participated in the Sebring track-hosted evening drag racing a couple years ago. Nothing untoward resulted.
But looking back I do remember being slightly stunned that it was street cars, no helmets, no tech inspection or anything, and concrete barriers at the end of the straight.
It was combined with the PCA evening social, with cocktails/cash bar in the cold pits, and I remember vaguely wondering if any of the drivers had partaken before driving.
It was so nonchalant that I dismissed my worrying about the concrete walls as perhaps almost childish and irrelevant.
But I did say "No thank you" when I was invited to join in.
Terribly sad outcome.

When i use to drag race there were some tracks i would test at that i wouldnt run the full 1/4 mile because of the crappy conditions (The 60' is where you make all your time in drag racing). No helmets shame on both the track and driver.
