AIM SC HD dead (pretty much)
My AIM SC HD is not working and will not power up. Though hardwired it will only flash on but not stay on so not totally dead- just won’t charge up and stay on.
Bad timing- at Daytona with HSR.
Any ideas?

insure you’re getting info from the logger by making sure the “cell bars” indicating GPS satellite signal is getting to the SmartyCam, even if the power is not. That SHOULD allow it to start, and run for more than an hour. But something is either busted in the cable or camera to keep it from charging.
Keep us posted. Good luck, it’s a great event. Been many times.

Ok thanks both. Not at the track now so will try and charge first thing. I have a another stand alone cam I am using but not with data. Good thing too- first time to the Big House.
‘Wonder if it’s just the cable because it’s just not charging up anymore. Might have gotten bent. Could also be internal (but related). Got a spare cable Matt I can try/buy? Call you tomorrow.

Could also be a bad battery I think. I've had to replace a SCHD battery before for similar symptoms.

Was on a charger most of the day and could only produce a very brief white screen. Will leave it on all night.
Where did you get your battery Mike?

You have to send the camera to AIM to get the battery replaced. IIRC I sent mine to Virginia. They turn it around fairly quickly.

Sometimes it’s more expedient for them to offer you an exchange unit.

Will the replacement be plug ‘n play- it’s just a slave to Motec, no?

You need to check the menu to set it up. I usually set it up to record at 10 or 20 mph, auto shut off after 15 min, stop recording after 5 min. Also, you need to load your configuration (hopefully you have it on your computer) into the new camera, I doubt AIM transferred it to the replacement.
