i love summit point but there is definitely an enhanced deer population there. and i race a lotus super seven so i do worry about it (a deer would be a very bad hit in my car). but the worst animal 'almost' i've ever had was in NH at a hill climb when a momma bear and 3 cubs ran out in front of me at over 100 mph (i was in the Probe that time so at least I would have stood a chance of living if i'd have hit them!). they crossed from left to right and i was able to squeeze to the left and just miss them (there was only trees and a huge dropoff to pick from if i'd have tried to get off the road. yikes!

I've instructed about 15 days at summit this year and I include a short speech about how if we are given a choice we're going to murder any furry things that are in front of us instead of swerving to avoid at 100+.

Going to SP in two weeks. My only hope is that "darwin's deer"--those who like to stand on the front straight-- are already dead.

The standing ones are much less of a problem vs those darting out from the side and running accross.

Summit has made huge improvements over the years I've been going there. They have spent a ton of money moving berms and adding armco etc. They have taken steps to make SP less hospitable to the deer by taking down most of the trees between the front straight and the 2-3 straight.

The new owners just purchased two brand new ambulances as well.

To say that this is a Summit only issue is just not true. I've seen critters at other tracks albeit not deer.

This is a terrible time of year everywhere it being rut and all.

Or maybe with less deer, the less you need to go to the hospital.
