Sorry to hear about such a scam! Thanks John for putting an Admin note about this, i hate seeing this but its good to have a reality check every once in a while. Hopefully somehow you can recover your money! I wish you luck! I cant even remember all the times i buy parts in a similar fashion and i just take it for granted that the part even shows up...

Sounds like you did everything right for buying something long distance, certainly no reason to get down on yourself! Ultimately, there's only so much you can do to protect yourself.

Good luck, I hope you get your money back AND send this sob someplace he deserves...

Justin,
You've probably already done this, but a reverse address lookup gave the resident of that address as:

Michel Myriane
561-272-9240

an accomplice?

Post Office said they can't be tracked for 60 days. By that time, the guy is long gone. Again, please call the detective if you think you might have had dealings with this guy.

All the internet search methods have been done. One thing that would be handy would be tracing a T-Mobile cell number for billing address. Anyone?

Please read the following link, I doubt is the same person. I got my engine not exactly the way it was described but still a rip off and the guy is from Delray beach, Florida.

But who knows they could be related?

What IS heartening is the way the Rennlist community is rallying to help out. What one guy has done to destroy our faith in people - is being rebuilt 100-fold - by the great members of this community.

Kinda warms the heart, doesn't it.

Any good detective should have acess to an internet sleuth that can do reverse lookup of any phone. It may cost upwards of $150.00. But money well spent.

Doing this type of investigation a friend found out you could also find out what numbers a person was calling from the phone in question not just an addy. Anything is doable, just need to spend enough $$$

Talk to your detective about this type of background checks, and internet investigation techniques.

Justin...just in the odd case that this a-hole slips past... you should post the serial number of the engine. He obviously has at least access to an engine, so he either owns it or someone who knows him does. I know it is a long shot...but maybe someone will get lucky and we can nail the bastard!

Best of luck!

Normy!

Speaking of the Rennlist Community, I would like to thank John Dunkle for everything he has done trying to track this guy down. I know this is the last thing he wanted to do. One thing we can all do to show our appreciation is to become a member of Rennlist. I have been a USER for quite awhile. Tonight, I sent my $32US for a 2 year membership. This is money well spent (better than the $6500 for the motor I never got 8) )

Rennlist rocks!

I just got a 2 year membership for my son. He's 9 weeks old and will have a Rennlist sticker on his stroller as soon as Jen gets some in.

Yes, the serial number may help, unless the guy is smart and took it from a bistandard's car (or from a shop). This should be interesting...
