Original Temp Gauge Question
Does anyone know what temps the lines on the gauge represent?
Also, is it simple to install the outside vs. air engine compartment temp gauge? Does anyone have any experience with this install?

From what I have read - the line up with the aftermarket replacement. 210 for the lower line, 250 for the upper. You don't want to be at 250...
As far as the engine bay temp? why? The only thing I am worried about is oil temp...

Jeremy-
Thanks for the info. My carrera floats between just under and just over the first line. So, I'm assuming 200 - 220 degrees.
As for the intake air temp, to see to what degree different wings affect intake temp. As you may know, at Seebring in the summer, temps tend to get very high and as you know your 911 runs much better (for example, when it's in the 50's as opposed to a 95 degree afternoon in July).
Thanks,
Chris

Mine does the same - 200 - 220 - My old C2 ran a little warmer - 220-240
OK - makes sense - Although I have not heard of wings making that much difference. And yes, my 911 is running very well now in the cooler weather.

Here's my original. The small hash mark on the outside edge is 212F to calibrate it. The others are celsius.
Celsius X 1.8 + 32 = Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit - 32 divided by 1.8 = Celsius

So how many other people discovered those deg C marks on the stock gauge WHILE they were installing the guage with the temperature marks they paid 80 bucks for? That was a pisser.

I knew they were there and the hash mark, but was tired of driving on the track and having to think about it (I know it's not a lot od thinking, but...). LOL
