I've been to eight F1 weekends and suggest you find seats across from the paddock. The pre-race preperations, the race start, pit stops and end of race ceremonies make up the majority of the action for race day. Bring a nice pair of binoculars and a zoom lens for your camera. The on track action is great but that's best watched from your couch at home. That being said, if you can find seats across from the paddock with a decent view of a large screen you'll have best of both worlds.

I've sat there a few times as well, nice to see the cars under hard braking
my 4th choice

I liked the hairpin last year. Also the easiest one to get to. You see the cars for about 13 seconds.

I agree, the deceleration of an F1 car is impressive. I've never been to a race in Montreal and as i understand it's all assigned seating, not sure if that's still the case. Typically we walk around and watch a few different break zones, corners and sections for friday and saturday practice. We had our spot for qualifying and then our race day assigned seating...across from the pits. I still believe there's much more to see across from the pits. Either way, if this is the OP's first F1 race, you're in for a treat. Enjoy!

Agreed. In that order. Senna grandstands are really good seat, but a long walk (worth it) if travelling by Metro.

Sat pretty much everywhere, exit of the hairpin is my favorite - as low as possible.

Access to lots of heavy braking, some passing, a big screen with telemetry. Also right next to the secondary pits for all the support races which are open for viewing, meeting and talking to drivers and mechanics. No way you'll make a return trek there is you're sitting at the early corner complex - though they are great seats too, if a bit isolated to get to.

Cheers

Matt
