Default Helmet liner is in fact flame-retardent

When I bought my HJC helmet a few years ago, I asked the sales person if the liner was flame retardant. It would make sense that it is but she didn't know for sure.

I confirmed it today.

No, not the way you might think..... I bought new cheek pads and tested the old ones.

Now I'm very glad I got new cheek pads. Exposed foam=FLAMMABLE. Intact liner=Flame Retardant.

flame retardant interior is part of SFI spec. I'm pretty sure that is used as a primary reason organizers don't allow motorcycle helmets.

The primary differences between Snell SA and M helmets are the SA's flame retardant interior and its multiple impact protection.

Actually some organizers do allow them; just not in your area apparently.
