Buttonwillow: where to stay??
First time at Buttonwillow is coming up.. any hotel recommendations? (the very local places worry me at $35pn!)
Prefer north of the track so not to add drive time for the trip home.

Renting a motorhome for Buttonwillow is better then the nearby motels. Bring your favorite Scotch, have a BBQ, bench race(aka BS) with other drivers.
Limit the logistics, the drive back to hotel at legal speeds is a buzzkill after track driving sessions all day. Its your first time, soak it up.

all the hotels in and around Buttonwillow are basically dumps. Last time I stayed in a Marriott Courtyard in Bakersfield (45 min drive each way) but still worth it.
the “best” hotel in Buttonwillow (and “best” is very relative) is the Motel 6 Buttonwillow central
there are 2 Motel 6 in Buttonwillow, you want the one af
20645 Tracy Ave
Buttonwillow CA US 93206
CALL them to make a reservation and request a room facing away from the freeway.

So depending on whether you are coming from Norcal to Socal or Socal to Norcal there are 2 primary areas to stay.
Lost Hills is north of Buttonwillow Raceway
Buttonwillow is south of Buttonwillow Raceway which is located off of the Lerdo Hwy Exit
They are pretty much equidistant from the racetrack, but Lost Hills has significantly cheaper gas but crappier food.
Buttonwillow has some better food options like the BBQ and Mexican place and surprisingly the indian ain't half bad.
@ the Buttonwillow proper exit, there are 2 Motel 6s, You want to stay at the Central Buttonwillow, that one had the most recent renovation with a Midcentury Modern flare.
I usually always stay at the Motel 6 (central) @ buttonwillow and haven't been disappointed. Btw, they do take Military/LE and AAA discount if that helps you.

There were 2 M6's there one by fwy and 1 away from freeway. The one away from freeway by the mcdonalds is a total dump as a M6 but it was just bought and I think is now a Vagabond? Maybe they renovated it? I would call and ask. If we are lucky that could be the new find.

I always stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Bakersfield off of Highway 99 & 58. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the track but it's worth it for the upgrade in hotel.
Plus, I hate I5. 99 is just a nicer drive.

The motel six central is ok, it, used to be the red lion and something before that, it's gone through a number of iterations. It's not bad, but away from the freeway is the way to go. Now the 6'er north, no bueno. You're not buying a house in BW, it's just for a couple of nights you'll be fine.
Been going to BW for 22 years, you'll be ok.
Think about signing up for the Central Coast DE on Friday, makes a great three day event, ton's of track time

As stated above, the close ones on I-5 aren't very good. They are really trucker hotels. If you can handle that, then drive hard, go out to eat with others from the event, and then go back and crash. You really don't spend much time there.

Motel 6 if you are brave and so drunk you just pass out. It's fine but chance of bed bugs lol
Bakersfield - better food and franchised hotel for better quality. Can't go wrong w holiday inn or anything mentioned above.
