Default Do you rev match downshift (no heel/toe)

I do not heel/toe

After a long straight
1) Brake.
2) Downshift
3) Maintenance throttle into turn.

During the downshift, should I keep the brake pedal pressed,
or should I release the brake to blip the throttle for rev match?

Besides heel/toe and auto-blip unit ,are there any other options?
My six knee operations make heel/ toe impossible, unless I have not understood the technique

Do not overlook modifying your pedals to make it work better. It's not all about spacing either. In one of my cars I added a 3/4" spacer to the brake pedal to bring it up such that at full application it was even with the gas. Correct pedal spacing and height will make heel toe a lot easier. The car works for you - make the pedals fit you.

I put in the Rennline fully adjustable gas pedal. It makes HnT sooooooo easy.

This. With wider pedal set you can also just roll the side of your foot to blip throttle. I was never able to pivot my ankle to use my heel. IMO, as long as your not locking up the wheels on downshifts you don't have to be precise. For example, I don't blip or heel toe on 5-4 downshifts. They just seem to be smooth enough. YMMV.

I too have knee issues. I use side of foot (so ankle twist instead of knee) rather than toe heel and it seems to work decent enough at a rookie level

As you learn to get faster you will learn to trail brake, at that point you MUST heel toe in order to reach the goal of loading up the car properly (SumG, Traction Circle, etc.)

I have heard of drivers with ankle or other leg issues not having the flexibility to heel/toe, but I'd think most people can with some practice. Try practicing on the street, and consider the pedal extensions as suggested above. Not heel/toeing is a disadvantage on track. While I have heard of exceptions, virtually every good/fast track driver heel/toes.

When you are talking wider pedals, do you mean just the accelerator or all three?

My throttle has a side extension. Brake may be a bit wider.
