Very sad news. He was good friends with one of neighbors in the OC back in the day. Saw him there so much that it didn't seem a big deal after awhile. We all know his accomplishments in racing but he also was just a really nice guy to a lot of kids.

I got to speak to Dan at the 24 Hours of Daytona (maybe 92) when they were campaigning the Toyota powered IMSA prototypes. I would have been 11. That was back when you could just walk around on pit road. Nice guy, and he could definitely wheel!

Did some reading online and Foyt had quite a few nice things to say about DG, which is saying a lot as Foyt rarely said/says nice things about anybody
