Default Follow up to the Scott Tucker Thread.

Somehow the other Tucker thread became a political thread. Go figure. I read this article and quickly connected the dots.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/featu...th-a-vengeance

Interesting read.

Hmm, what a stemwinder of a story. After reading that it is really hard to have any sympathy for Scott Tucker. If true*, this means more than predatory lending - it was outright fraud.

-Mike

*IMO, it is getting hard to believe anything in the media these days, so call me skeptical - but they did manage to get a conviction of this guy.

Really shows the need to protect you personal data from an angle I had not thought of before.

As I stated in the other thread the guy is a conman and a 2 time convicted felon. No mater what your opinion of the payday loan industry is and free markets, his operation was fraudulent. The guy picked low income people to fleece but could have just as easily picked on your parents retirement accounts.

Wow, amazing. That guy, Therrien, is my hero.

I suppose it's a lot easier to understand the pure evil involved when you've been on the other side of the fence, the other end of the phone call.

Thanks for posting the story link. Great read. There is other scum like this in the automotive world.

Our tax dollars and enforcement agencies efforts wasted and pissed away on "Russian meddling" instead of real, damaging scammers and scumbags. SAD

Truly a tangled web shown in that story, good read. The salesman turned watchdog would have been given a Pulitzer or promotion for his work were he in the appropriate field.
There is much experience in the finance and legal fields to opine here so what if a loan is taken from one of the "sovereign" tribal entities that dont follow any states or federal regs. Do they have any standing in those state or federal courts for remedy of these defaulted loans? Do they get the cake and get to eat it?

I'm so glad this article came to light. I hope all the folks on the other thread who were practically insinuating that the gov't 'had it in for poor Tucker' read this...this guy is a convicted felon who used ill-gotten gains to fund a lavish lifestyle (including a racing team). I hope he never sees the light of day. This has all the signs of a good thriller blockbuster (a determined lone individual chasing through the underbelly of the pay-day/predatory lending industry, people committing suicide, and a major billionaire bad guy who is psycho/delusional and owns a race team)!

Interesting articles. Thanks for posting.

70's IMSA... marijuana smuggling

The intersection of crime, money and high level racing has been active for decades. In several cases, folks involved as service and parts providers to these folks are in our Porsche/racing network.

Here is a story by MP on racing and crime:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorspo...cy-of-scandal/

I have not yet read it, but I know that MP is a great writer and fan of the sport. Also a good guy and fellow Fremont resident.
