COTA Track Event by MVP February 23-25 2018
Just got this from Mark at MVP.
I just registered as this event fills up fast
His COTA event is a great event for anyone who wants to drive COTA.
We usually go to this event every year
Simple and short drivers meeting and a good run group of guys
Circuit of The Americas (COTA): February 23 - 25, 2018
Good Morning My Fellow Track Junkies:
I hope this finds each of you enjoying your weekend as we work our way through a suddenly cool Fall. Winter will be upon us before we know it. I for one think a more southern location in late February 2018 offers a nice respite from the pending cold weather. Perhaps sunny, warm Austin, Texas?!
For the sixth year in a row, MVP is headed to Texas to enjoy Circuit of The Americas (COTA). It's time to sign up for three days of driving on America's only purpose built F1 track in Austin, Texas. MVP Track Time has scheduled our 6th annual three-day COTA track event for February 23-25, 2018.

Ski Austin?!
More History to be Made
Now for the moment you've all been waiting for, the entry fee to enjoy COTA. The entry fee for all three days is $1,375, the same price as 2014 - 2017. We may have a limited number of 2-day and single-day spots available. If you'd like to register for a single day or two days, contact me at (314) 249-3770 or Feffman@MVPTrackTime.com.
Initially, like our previous visits to COTA, this event will be for ADVANCED and INTERMEDIATEskill/experience level drivers only. If demand warrants it, we may open COTA to novice attendees.
If you are in doubt whether you meet the Advanced or Intermediate criteria, call me at (314) 249-3770 or e-mail Feffman@MVPTrackTime.com to discuss your experience. As with the previous five years, there are a limited number of spots available for COTA 2018.
Yes, COTA fills fast!!

STEP 2:

When we have allocated the registrations by run group, based on individual track experience, we will send out a group confirmation e-mail to each of the four run groups. We will once again have four (blue, green, yellow and red) run groups allowing us to schedule two hours of track time each day for each run group.
In the continued spirit of transparency, the rental of COTA, as you can guess, is rather costly, so once you register, MVP will not be able to give you a refund until COTA is sold out and we have a replacement for you. If/when we can replace you, there will be a $100 cancellation fee. Inside of four weeks (January 26, 2018) prior to the COTA event there is no refund. This is the reality of renting Circuit of The Americas.
A "Garage Rental" e-mail will go out when registration is complete. Each garage easily holds four cars, so there are plenty to go around but they are first come, first served.
If you have any questions, grab the phone and call me at (314) 249-3770 or you can e-mail Feffman@MVPTrackTime.com.
Happy Motoring and I hope to see you at COTA in February 20178

Interesting thing happened at this event last year with my lower skilled friend.
We had already been to a COTA Chin event and they had pass bys in the corners, but since he is in a high HP car (996 GT2) and isn't that good of a driver he had trouble taking them or getting close enough to get them. Thus he felt he was in traffic the whole day.
We go to MVP and he loves it because it is passes on the straights only, and he could let his HP do the work where it was expected to.
Kind of unrelated story I guess. In summary, Mark is super nice and his event seemed pretty well run, especially with him not being from the area. They don't allow passing in the turns in ANY run group though last time, and they didn't even consider 15-16 a straightaway, so it's not for me.

COTA is a technical track with looonnnnngggg straights. Passing in straights only requires very good situational awareness and proper run group placement, otherwise you get looonnnnnggggg trains.
That said, while I've never attended this event, I've heard very good buzz about in in previous years.

Great event and organizer. this will be my 6th year.
This event does attract some nice hardware, with McLaren P1's and Pirelli series GT3 and GT4 cars, and these cars will come up on you fast.
I checked the box for intermediate group this year as my lap times are about 2:32-34 on R888 in a 996 GT3 (this year I will be in slicks, so should be a little faster) but the above cars will do 2:20-25. Big difference in closing speed.
No instructors for intermediate group with Mark @ COTA.
