Is this New York Safety Track? Was "Safety" added to the name as a joke?
Do most people go there to drift?

the last open lapping day at our local track, there was a group of 4 cars that was rotating a group of 4 passengers. each time one of the cars went out, it was slap full of passengers....EACH time. ALL day. goofiest thing i've seen at the track in a long time. eerie similarity to this. same tire budget, even the same giggling......

Does the liability insurance clubs buy typically cover this?
Reminds me of the video of quadrifoglio guy drifting around COTA in the middle of DE traffic. Somehow it was OK....but IMO if you're going to be an idiot, rent the track out on your own dime and time. I don't need to be around people who can't generally follow the rules and put other people in danger.

I agree that they should not be allowed to intentionally drift during an HPDE, but the rules don't currently ban it.
If someone is drifting, maybe the CDI or safety official can black flag them if you bring to their attention.
Some clubs offer fan rides for the corner workers. Usually during a lunch break or at the end of the day. Many times the corner workers have never been on track, so we offer them a ride. We limit ourselves to around 80% and the corner workers enjoy it.
