Catch-all F1 thread since we're no longer doing individual races.....
Some interesting data from Malaysia race: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/s...charge-960932/
Too bad about Ferrari's misfortune the last two races because it was setting up for a tight run into the end of the season....

That's a bummer; I try to stay away from ESPN as much as possible.

I wonder if they'll hire the same crew of Diffey, Hobbes, and Matchet? I guess I really don't care what network carries it, as long as they don't miss any races, qualy's, or practices. I like the F1 extra shows where they do some additional interviews, although you can catch most of that on YouTube.
As for Vijay, I guess the era of hookers and blow is over. Will Force India still be around? It would be a shame to lose them. They were doing quite well this year.

My understanding is that there was no action taken on the post race collision between Stroll and Vettel. It sure looked to me like Stroll wasn't aware but what do I know.
The damage to VET's car was bad. Has anyone heard of whether he has replaced gearbox or anything that will set him back on the grid?
I was soooooo hopeful that the Merc/Ferrari championship would come down to the last race but that seems unlikely unless HAM gets some bad luck.

Hitching a ride on the side pod of your countryman's F1 ride: PRICELESS.

Aside from racing, this is an interesting move by the new American owners of F1. I find it incredibly "different" for lack for lack of a better term, that Eric Boulter of McLaren is doing live interviews DURING THE RACE!! Of course, McLaren is now run by Americans.
NBC has grown viewership 135% in the past 5 years. ESPN's ratings and viewership have steadily declined for several years. They laid off hundreds of on air talent and staff. Perhaps F1 will benefit from having races on the mothership but honestly, I watch sports/racing for sports and not be lectured on left wing agenda. If this turns out to be a cluster ****, this will force me to find the BBC or SkySports feed.

DirecTV
This season, I've been watching F1 on DirecTVChannel:464 Univision Deportes Network HD. Sure it's in Spanish but pretty easy to figure out. No commercials!

Grid penalties are not helping F1. I get equipment durability but if going off and damaging a gearbox results in a five grid spot penalty what are they really incentivizing? Conservative driving?? Or Alonso getting a 35 grid spot penalty because the team broke curfew trying to get the car sorted? Is this grammar school or F1?
On the plus side, watching the cars through some of the high speed curve sections is mighty impressive.
