Default Windshield Tear Offs

Does anyone recommend a good place to get tear offs for a 991 windshield? I was @ LRP on Tuesday and almost cracked my windshield from a rock that was brought onto the track from a driver going off and re-entering. There was a Viper ACR extreme there and when i was talking to him, he mentioned he has tear offs and i thought it was a great idea especially given what had just happened to me.

While i didn't crack my windshield i did get a large chip. Anyone recommend a good windshield repair kit to get?

Race car or Street car? I wouldn't recommend them for a street car because the get pretty rough quickly and tear up your wipers.

Tearoffs for racecars is to protect from scratching the plastic windshield which wouldn't work with glass windshields in preventing chips. I think windshield-armor is what you need( Google it). Mike

Try tearoffguys.com, they have single and multi-layer. We used there single layer for the first time, It came through a club race weekend just fine. It definitely helps with rock chips

Any place that does wraps should be able to supply them. I've had excellent results using one on my 997 Cup (Glass Screen) and the windscreen is like new when I remove the tear-off for replacement. Also use one on my 997 GT3 street car but have not used with wipers. The cars a garage queen, I know.....very sad.

I had ClearPlex on my Cayman R. Lasts about a year before it's too pitted to see through. Then when you replace it, it's like looking through clear skies again!

Although I have free glass coverage, so not sure it's that worth while.

I tried ClearPlex on my Cayman when tracking. Does protect the glass, but on my car it got so pitted in 2-3 days that I took it off.
I just replace my glass once a year ( 25 track days) at $350 a shot for OEM glass. The Clearplex was $ 250.....

I just fixed two smaller chips and a 2-inch curved crack with a 10-buck Rain-X repair kit from WMart (yeah, I know).....worked great.

Thanks for the endorsements guys.
I can supply and install 3 Layer Tear Offs on Glass OR Polycarbonate.
The film is optically clear & designed Specifically for motorsport use ( not window tint film) . Its manufactured in the UK by Racing Optics. This is the same film Nascar and IMSA use. It does require an experienced installer
I am located in Webster NY close to Watkins Glen
My best contact is 585727nineteentwelve

Still looking for 1 more install to hit the requisite 3 needed for Sam to come to WG for Chin 7/28&29 or Niagara 7/30&31
Any of the 4 dates work for me and buddy. Somebody jump in, I'm begging here. My only opportunity to get tearoffs to carry thru next year.
