Porsche 918 at dealer asking $2,650,000?
Any ideas why Porsche Princeton has a 918 listed for so far and above market price at $2,650,000? It is a base non-weissach car with no options. Looking at cars.com there are plenty up there with more options and low miles for about half the price 1.3M to 1.4M ask. You think they are just using it as click bait? Been at the dealership for well over a year or maybe close to two now not selling. At the prices they have been asking they clearly have no desire to sell it or so it seems.

I'll take a shot...
Maybe a halo they have no intention of selling, just attracting buyers of other cars to their showroom?
Maybe they have a flock of uninformed, impulse buyers in the Princeton area?
With rates as low as they are, opportunity costs are non-existent so they can just sit out there with their "rare" (not really) car and wait for the unicorn buyer.
Doesn't make sense to me but exotic car sellers are not businesses built on doing any consistent volume. A one off transaction at a crazy price covers over a lot of sins.

Will be interesting to watch the selling prices of the 918. Truly a hyper car. But with the VIP program not transferring, wonder how that will impact pricing in the short term.

It's the same car. No options at all either in this 918. Non weissach too. Me I'm auction last week a weissach highest bid was $1.6M. I'd imagine a no option non weissach would have been high bid a few hundred under that so Princeton is priced themselves out of the market. I believe they are using it for marketing and have no intention of selling it

Another at Empire exotics for under $1.5 ask. Porsche of South Shore has a under 200 mile white for $1.5 ask.
I'm sure they will take 50k to 100k under ask on all these since they have been sitting on there for months not selling. I think the real market is as you say around $1.3M plus/minus depending on color/spec. Weissach's maybe a couple hundred more.
Princeton's car is non weissach and not a single option on it. A base MSRP 918 so not sure what they are smoking!
