I think for your budget you will have no problem finding several to choose from over the next few months. good luck on your search they are cool cars.

I only know of one (unsubstantiated) sale supposedly above $1.8. There are lots of optimistic asking prices, but not much movement at the higher pricing levels... And what many of those cars were bought for is a whole 'nother story.
$1.3 might be tough unless a low option non-WP with some miles.
Delivery mile non-WP are $1.4+.
WP cars with miles can overlap the price of delivery mile non-WP cars
Delivery mile WP cars all seem to be $1.6+++

I feel the metallic white car was very well sold at $1.595... Strong money for a high-spec / unique WP, discounted for having ~1,500 miles. The 20% gap that's typically between buyer and seller really distorts auction results.
"But, but, but, someone just paid $1,595,000 for a 918 Weissach with 1,500 miles"... "Yeah, but someone just sold a 918 Weissach with 1,500 miles for only $1,300,000"
Generally speaking, I feel the price range I posted earlier to hold true, based on the auction result and other transactions I can confirm. A non-WP car should be anywhere from ~$1.3 for a low-spec car with some miles (~1,500) and could cross $1.5 for a specially equipped / unique car with delivery miles.
Thing is, these aren't widgets and there are no rules when it comes to prices. Obviously no one likes to over pay, but at this level, I wouldn't let ~5-10% get between me and a car I really wanted (easy for me to say!). By the same token, we are talking about a lot of money and there does seem to be a fairly stable supply of cars, so I wouldn't compromise too much just for the sake of getting a car or a deal.

would be logical to use hammer price as a gauge for the market as that is somewhat in between wholesale /retail..

Drifting
You then post "in that group there are plenty for sale" that's why he posted in the 918 section makes perfect sense.
