Ford GT
Anyone here have any experience with the Ford GT?
More importantly, is this a comparable supercar to the Carrera GT as some would have me believe?
Thanks for any thoughts.

The Ford GT has been on my watch list for quite some time. Prices have continued to soar well past my budget.
They are a great car to drive or park in your collection.
It is in the same ballpark in terms of collectability as CGT but is nowhere near the technology.
The V10 experience of the CGT is what the Ford GT500 lacks.
I want both, but if only to have one at any price the CGT wins.

Love muscle cars - if I owned a Ford it would be boosted and modified as many others have done.
The CGT was built by racing engineers - the best of everything the world had to offer but it demands serious respect.
The Ford is a good design very simplistic copy of the original in every way mass produced 4000 not a bad thing as the owners have big time bragging rights.
I look at cars like watches - no one needs more than one it's a reward.
The Ford GT is reliable and fits in every crowd unlike the controversial CGT - extremely exciting to own but it is NOT meant to be driven by the normal - one has to be skilled and willing to invest before starting the ignition let alone WOT.

Not comparable, except that it has 4 tires and a standard transmission. A really fun car, to be sure, especially with modest mods.
I love both, but the CGT really is in another universe.

There is a fabulous unbiased comparison of the two written by W.Mitty.

I have both and really enjoy the FGT. It is much easier than a CGT to drive around town and extract the performance from. That being said, I do put the CGT in another category--I've never gotten the rush of blood to the head that I get when I twist the key in the CGT.
As mentioned, it's easy to get additional horsepower out of the FGT--mine is now putting 670hp/640tq to the wheels with a pulley/long tube headers/throttle body/and tune. The Ricardo transmission in the car is really amazing and clicks into gear with jewel-like precision.
I can't recommend the car enough--it's a great drive.

I simply cannot say how much I envy those who have both the GT and CGT.
Kudos to you fine gents.

Am 50% there. Still looking for the CGT and will purchase in the next few months, knowing full well the car will be more expensive for the moment. Have had the opportunity to evaluate the FGT against my entry level Ferrari cars. Of course, the FGT wins easily with style, grace and tons of torque.
The FGT supercharger allows for nearly a straight line acceleration (Not an apparent curve) and to the uninitiated, the car can quickly change the drivers status to passenger in a heartbeat.
The Goodyear F-1 tires really need to be at temperature for any spirited driving and the Bridgestone Potenza Scuderia tires are a better choice.
Purchased my FGT (Black/Silver stripe 4 option car) in March of 2011. Now at 12K+ miles with over 7K with me/wife/friends at the command.
While there is belief on my part the transition from FGT to CGT will be easy, that is a dangerous assumption to make.
CGT = Surgical Scalpel
FGT = Brush Machette
Both can quickly get the overzealous into serious trouble and on the other hand, can be an award worth the effort to obtain.
