Noticed this as well. Could be AWD as you say, relatively heavy weight, and/or handling set to bias a bit of understeer at the limit (ghosts of tail-happy CGT), although I'd expect them to get it as close to neutral as possible for this exercise.

agreed, steering looked a bit slow.
also, no need to cool off pccbs at the end, just stop on the spot and replace. true baller factory style!

Put Leh in the car in the rain, then we'll see how it really handles. Allan

It gives a lot of props to Stefan Beloff at 6:11.13 in the 956. Simply staggering.

Some rubbing in Fuchsrohre

Scary stuff through Kesselchen

Nice driving. Steering always slower in road cars than race cars.

LOL - now THAT is funny.

Great promo video, but as some said, the in-car is *almost* boring, compared to the Viper 'ring record video anyway. It's almost like Lieb doesn't have to try with the 918. It's almost like....gasp....a GT-R. Darn AWD electronics.

There should not even be a debate between P1 vs 918 who is quickest. Ron Dennis in Geneva declared that P1 would be the fastest and also go under 7min. Both have yet to be proven/verified. 918 spyder is a luxury 4WD TARGA! vs what McLaren claims P1 as 'race car for the streets'.......P1 should annihilate the 918, but it won't. P1 should do better than 6:57, but I'm guessing not by much. As far the LaFerrari, you will not see it run the ring. Maranello only cares about FIORANO times. they will however release a quicker time than both P1 and 918, mind you not verified, and get away with it. Cause LaFerrari is a Ferrari. Whatever
Props to Porsche. Historic achievement really, there is always something to be said about doing something FIRST, after the fact just looks like one-up-manship ;0)

Compared to the P1 and LaFerrari .......just over a mil is an outright bargain ;0)

Decouples front drive beyond 146mph if I remember correctly. So some sectors RWD only ;0)

Plus it's electric steering, though dr frank walliser stated they have perfected the feel and response with the 918. For over $1mil, I would hope so :-0

This is correct (decoupling of front motor/drive above 146mph) for constant RWD at high speed.

This why the 918, will probably be slower in the highest end speed test vs it's competitors. But will most likely beat ( 1/4 mile) or annihilate them (0-60) in anything at or below 1/4 mile test.

Torque vectoring, can transmit torque to the front or rear axle, when needed. So you can get Rear Wheel Drive in flashes, even below 146 mph as well.

I think it would be very interesting to see Lieb or another Porsche hot shoe driver drive the CGT with modern tires (super sports) on the Ring with in car camera. Not so much to see the time difference but to see how the car behaves at the limit compared to the 918 with AWD, rear wheel steering. 918 showed a tendency to mostly understeer or push. Obviously the CGT would require much more driver input and would not be nearly as neutral at the limit. Sure would be fun to watch
