Default One less CGT

I don't know if you guys saw this but it looks like there is one less CGT alive today.

It happened at Putnam Park yesterday. A real shame.

I apologize if it is a repost.

What happened? Residue looks like it's from a fire extinguisher?

Everyone was fine.

It was at a track day. I was told (I didn't see it happen as my view was obscured) he lost control on a short straight and t-boned himself against the photographer's rental car which was placed in a spot where a car would not likely end up. I've never seen a car go off right there, but I'm sure it has happened. The driver side of the CGT struck the front of the stationary rental car and the CGT caught on fire.

The track was wet and most other cars were running off line. I was told this guy was running the racing line and had just spun in turns 9/10 on the prior lap.

I'm sure there were other RL'ers there as there were a number of Porsches.

This car will be reborn, just maybe with a salvage title.

Saw the car around town a few times. Bummer to see this happen, glad no one was injured or worse.

I have seen parts prices for the CGT and this repair is going to cost about 150-200k

Can you rebuild one of these with frame damage? The b-piller/roll hoop was pushed in a good amount. Basically at the point where the oil cooler lines were severed causing the fire or so it is speculated. The drivers side rear suspension was badly damaged as well.

I wouldn't but you probably could if you wanted to go to take on the cost of doing it. With the cost of parts for these things being what they are, there's no way it woud be worth it.

So sad, glad everyone was okay. I don't think it will be rebuilt, hope he at least had some good insurance.

Copart would be the best place for that one. The roll hoops are an intergrated piece of the tub. It would be a GREAT starting point for a track car however
