I've heard all sorts of people claim there is a difference in the clutch, but I have never come across a single piece of evidence to confirm the truth of it. I regard it as urban legend. Too bad there isn't a snopes.porsche web site to consult.

There were a few options for MY 2005 that were not available for 2004 cars. Paint-to-sample was one of them as well as black, silver, or red brake calipers and interior leather-to-sample. Carbon fiber shift ***** and other trim bits were offered as well for 2005 cars.

ECU, clutch, and Brakes were different on the 04. Some of the late 04 cars got the second generation Carbon brakes and all the 05 did.

I always thought that the CGT's version of PCCB was different than the Gen1 Gen2 996 PCCB.

I've owned 8XX '05 and now own 247 '04. I can't tell any difference between the two.

You can also do a search on this forum as the 2004-2005 differences topic has been covered before.
