Default Road tyres

Just noticed the Treadwear # for the other Porsche approved tyre for the CGT

The 335/30ZR20 Pirelli PZero Rosso has a UTQG rating of 60AAA
(explanation of UTQG here:http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=48)

The PS2 rating is 220AAA

The lower the number usually means the stickier the tyre, 60 seems very low and could be a typo, the info is from Tirerack, but 60 is the sort of number the Michelin cup tyres have !- anyone tried the new Pirellis yet ?

Typo TB, looked into this option a while back. Check out the P zero in another size and it will list the wear rate as 220 AA A.

Yeah.... Unless they have developed something "tricky" for the CGT it looks like a typo -I can't find any official Pirelli data for this tyre other than it exists ?

One option to consider is cups on 19" wheels as the 997GT2 features a 325/30 19 rear MPSC.

You could run 265/30 19 front with this rear size.

This is no typo, the compound has a 60 treadwear rating. The rear tires are available now but the fronts are "pre production" but there is a part number for them. These tires will have the same compound as the corsa tires. I have been waiting for the front tires for 6 months + now.

BTW I had two other sources, besides tirerack, check out the specs of these tires and they both confirmed the 60 treadwear figure. I even asked tirerack to physically inspect the rear tires when they were in stock and they confirmed the 60 rating. They have since soldout of the rear tires. Not sure who bought them when they cant use them without the fronts. Before that I called Porsche AG back in May to see if they could get me the tires and they called pirelli and were told they are "pre production". Here is the price quote I got last week from my German dealer

the tires for the Carrera GT( Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N0/ 265/35 ZR 19 94Y and
335/30 ZR 20 104Y will cost EUR 1.864,00 incl. 19% tax.

But at the moment only the rear tires are available!

I guess we have to be patient.

I've e-mailed a contact in Germany to ask about this, it would be excellent if this is true.
