Guys lets not go overboard here. NEVER does the commerical say that the Stang is either faster or better then the GT. He simply passes him! I passed a GT on the freeway last week does that mean my 993 is faster then the GT. Of couse not.

No need to defend of rationalize the commerical. It's just that, A COMMERICAL.

Subtle subliminal implications that this "machine" can and does compete or share the road with machines of the world of reputed superior character and quality; roads which are speed limit free. The suggestion is all that is necessary in some emotionally charged minds. The same minds that are behind the challenges that a 928 encounters on the freeways of this country all the time from insecure drivers of such............ "devices".

been a while since i saw the commercial, but from what i remember, the CGT was clearly signalling right to exit the autobahn, just as the Ford "passed" him.

so as some people have said, its not only a clever (funny) and creative commercial, but it also covers the bases by not technically claiming that the 'stang was faster than, or even passed the CGT during any sort of race.

it sort of a much more subtle version of that excellent E39 M5 advert from years ago, where the M5 was used as a camera/"chase car" for a land speed record attempt. no one in their right mind would believe the M5 could be as fast as rocket powered car, but it makes the point nicely, without overpromising anything.

cheers

hesperus, you beat me to it. The CGT was signaling, and it's a great ad that pays homage to the autobahn, everyone's just getting a bit touchy here, I don't think there's any need for that.
