A Porsche dealer in Illinois, Suds Motor Cars just sold a brand new 2005 carrera gt in silver with dark grey interior for $350,000. Dustin was the salesman. I am in the market for one and plan on putting many miles on it. I considered this car but figure there are so many low mile ones that I would be better with one of those. But at this price for a new one it was interesting.

Keith Martin (Sports Car Market Magazine) discussed the CGT and future market valuations at the Parade in Portland last month. One attendee was pressing him on whether he should buy one or not. Keith's response was if you want the car ... and can afford the car ... buy it. But do not expect it to be an investment.
He said that he expects the prices on these cars to continue to decline to about $250K or so and sort of hold steady there (IIRC).
He said the main problem with the CGT is that it has no racing provenance although it was originally designed to race at Le Mans. The new coupe coming online based on the CGT could help though.

Another factor will be competition at the $250,000 price point. While the cars are radically different, someone looking to spend that much would be sorely tempted by the new 599GTB or a 430. AS

I made the point about two weeks ago, that they can be sold at 335k without the dealer losing money. I got bashed in the head. My point was, the vehicles cost is prob close to that number.
I predict the prices will appreciate in the future, but the best deals are just around the corner.

A friend of mine made an offer on a CGT this past week for approx. $240K ... it sold for $260 or so. I was expecting prices like that maybe 18 month out but that is pretty low pretty quick ... very surprising.

Maintenance and repair are going to be huge factors regardless of the price point. A friend of mine hit a cat (think tabby not cougar) with a CGT and caused $28K damage.
Carbon fibre is great until it gets popped ... then breakout the checkbook. I think this will be the ongoing achilles heel of the CGT and the Enzo.
Then again if they get down to $100K ... hmmmm ...
