Because the rear lift point is barely aft of the center of mass. Only mild upward pressure on the front of the car can rotate it.

Here the techs are lifting on the front of the car to make sure the hold-downs are installed correctly:

It has to do with the location of the lift points, they had to be in a certain spot on the tub and when lifting from this location the car is tail heavy and requires the car to be strapped to the blocks.

yes .. yes .. i know, i know ... warranty, liabilities, time, etc ... but i have seen some INCREDABLE mistakes made for those so called " experts" , (factory authorized garages) than sometimes i would preffer my 9 years old son do the service ... well ... good luck anyway ... i love the GT´s.

That provides some interesting leverage on those lifts. Most designs presume some semblence of balance on the vertical beams. Wonder if anyone has caculated that.

What's the running in procedure for the CGT? The car is quistion has around 800 kilometers right now. Does Porsche's general running in of 3000 kilometers apply to the CGT as well? I read earlier in this thread that the first oil check/change should be done around 3000 miles.

Thanks in advance for answering the quistions.

Break-in period is 1,000 miles / 1,600 KM. The Porsche manual lists several "hints" to follow during the break-in. Some of the hints: 1) Do not exceed 4,200 rpm, 2) Do not participate in motor racing events, sport driving schools, etc.

Engine oil changes at 15,000 miles / 24,000 KM. Regardless of mileage, do the service every two years. But conditions such as a hot climate might cause you to have this done more frequently. Bahrain would qualify as a hot climate, wouldn't it?

I seriously hope you guys don't let your cars go 15k miles without an oil change. No synthetic oil I know if will last 15k miles without breaking down. Synthetic oils, under normal driving can last to 10k miles, but filters should be changed at least every 4-5k. It sounds like the oil change procedure is a PITA, but what about a filter change? Please change your filters somewhat frequently!

Have you ever looked at oil after 7k miles? On a car like the CGT, and especially one that's driven like a CGT, oil will NOT last 15k. Oil filters would amaze me if they lasted 5k.

I tend to agree with that. The cost of the oil change is not that bad, and I would change it at least once a year - probably < 3500 miles for me.

Go out and look at some oil. At 3k on light driving good luck, but at 7k it will be obvious it needs to be changed. Any oil seeing operating conditions like that in a CGT could not possible last 15k. I would change at less than 5k.

When the opportunity arises, I will try to remember to go and look at some oil.

Would you be willing to share a used oil analysis report showing engine oil from a CGT could not possibly last 15k miles?
