It was 29.7mm when measured mid 2008, so around 1/3 worn at 18k miles.

Here's the measurement data for the valve clearance. As you can see no adjustment was needed.

Hi Yannick

A few years ago I offered the workshop manuals FOC to any Carrera GT owners, wherever they reside.

I'd really like to stick to this format.

Cheers

Anyone in the US care to pay it forward with a copy of the CD? I'd like to read up on why I'm paying so much for service

Default Valve adjustment

Reading here about different costs for valve adjustment I feel a need to add my 2p to the discussion. The valve train set up on the CGT doesnt seem so complicated. The issue to me seems to be that after the engine is run for while from new,the valves may 'bed in' to their seats and so tighten the tolerance. The valve clearance is there to allow for heat expansion of the components(thus the exhaust clearance is greater than the inlet). If the clearance becomes 'tight',i.e. the feeler guage wont go in the gap, then we dont know how tight it is.That means the camshaft and valve gear needs to be removed and so extra man hours. If,as in the earlier post all the clearances are within tolerance then the man hours are much less.Maybe thats the difference in the costs.

Dealer told me the average job comes in at 60% of book.

The CGT is now 10 years old - there are no surprises about service work.

Would be interesting to know what a clutch costs - been looking for a spare if anyone knows of one.
