Default Productions numbers going down?

Hey guys I just paid a visit to the local dealer here and they said that Porsche is decreasing their production run of the Carrera GT from here on out. Anyone know what the numbers are? any more info? Also, is Porsche considering any improvements on late '05 and '06 models?

My dealer says that besides the announced cutback to 1250 total production, PCNA is examining booked orders to see if they are attached to real customers. If a real customer cannot be located for a booked future production order, Porsche may take the opportunity to cancel the order out from under the dealer holding it.

It is possible that the 1250 total may end up being considerably less. I think that's good for current owners and may prop up dealer prices.

Is the press release announcing this posted anywhere? I looked on Porsche's site, and googled, but couldn't find it....

As far as I know, this was not a formal press release. Rather, it was a memo sent to all Porsche dealers.

I saw a copy of the memo from my Porsche dealer. They had a final allocation which they lost, supposedly due to this reduction. In reality, I suspect that they did not have a buyer for their final allocation and elected to "lose" it.

PAG is claiming some of this is due to the airbag issue within the US and the cost associated with such change on the CGT is not justifiable, therefore they expect to cut the #s. Heard this a few weeks ago.
