In my ride at liepzig in cgt, as soon as Marc Lieb switched off the traction control he could kick
out the back end with a small blip of the throttle... Now imagine trying to push yourself hard
in this car on the track??? To ride with Marc Lieb or Timo Bernhard was like watching
a artist in fast forward--magnifique!!!!!!!!!!! I could understand almost anybody cracking
one up with a small mistake.
m.k.

SYMA and Graham are correct - there is an unusually high percentage of CGT's crashing than other Porsches. It's more power than these drivers are accustomed to, very likely, and I imagine the low clearance doesn't help as you might hit some debris that normally would be rolled over. It might be the most fantastic car in the world, but it's also one of the fastest ever made, and very few people have enough experience to handle such a machine.

That's 7 C-GT's that I know of, out of a possible 750+ C-GT's that have been sold worldwide. Is that a high ratio? QUOTE]
no. you think less than 1% involved in accidents (not only that but one of the 7 was sitting at a stop light when rear ended by a truck doing 20 mph) with only 2 of those 7 being totalled is high?

If there was a Ford Escort forum showing pictures of damaged Escorts, then someone would jump to the conclusion that a lot of Escorts are getting wrecked. No different with the CGT.

The GT is a superlative car and we're all a little bit jealous of GT owners.
The Germans have a word for how we secretly enjoy it a little when they have grief.
I don't think it surprising that of the people who buy fast cars and drive them like God intended have a number of incidents. I would speculate that the % is no more than the percentage of ferraries, fiats whatever that are used on the track.
More GT drivers track the cars - where else can they go - therefore more hit the wall.
I think it would soon become clear that of the number of cars used on the track the % is the same for all cars, but I can't see some amature statistician counting the number of $20,000 cars that hit the wall.
Don't forget that 100% of all the people who died last year drank water. Should we ban water?

Not that I am siding with anyone on the " high %" thing BUT it would be interesting to know the total miles put on the 750 and the accidents per vehicle-mile figure. It may or may not be higher than 1) other exotic high end supercars 2) OTHER ( But they are not truly in the same class) sports cars or 3) all cars.
If someone has these data please post them so we can all be informed. Of course as we say- Never let the facts get in the way of a good story ( or post).
