Who knows? Initial Porsche stated 750 then doubled it to 1500 and finally indicated to the dealership's anyone that wants one can get one.
Porsche's problem is the car is not selling. They have had a spate of cancellations and are scrambling to reconfigure the car to make it more useable in real world driving. Whether that will reinvigorates sales remains to be seen.
