Default Did anyone read the Jerry Seinfeld CGT article?

If so do you recall the part where he was talking about some "special" process Porsche used to harden the resin on all the carbon fiber parts? He mentioned "some other super car that I won't name" made of carbon fiber that literally disintegrated and melted over the years. Does anyone know what car that was? That sounds rather unbelievable.

They really melted? What caused it? I've seen some F40's still running around. Is there soemthing that catalyzes it?

the cgt's parts are post-cured in an autoclave to ensure maximum strength(under high pressure and heat). but so is just 'bout everything else these days.

it's pretty well known that metal airplanes last longer than 'plastic' ones. it will be interesting to see how the composites in these cars will hold up over several decades.

In 1977 Porsche made an exotic out of aluminum. No "melting" here, 22 yrs later (mine at least) - Ruf
