Default Carrera GT Front Hood support struts

I've recently purchased a 2005 Carrera GT and am in the process of sorting out a few maintenance issues. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding the replacement of the front hood support struts / shocks. The factory parts are stupid expensive ($250/pair) as compared with just about any other support strut that's used on SUV window lifts or similar applications. My sense is that there must be a quality substitute for this part. Thanks for the help.

250/pair sound dirt cheap for anything on this car. Seriously. I would have guessed 1200/pair; enough to cause you to truly laugh or cry. 250 is high for the function of the part but idk how many pieces on that car can be had for 250, let alone a pair of them!

The part number is. 98051155100

$126 from Sunset.

Or you can buy the Stabilus part, who makes it for Porsche, without the Porsche logo for $35. SG406029.

Says It’s compatible with the CGT, so it may be worth trying it.

OEM parts, Suncoast is "usually" the cheapest.
brace urself for CGT part prices. pccb rotor was $12k each. front headlight was $10k each as of 3 years ago.
after a few more price checks, I stopped asking b/c I got scared.

Thanks for your reply’s. Yes, I’m well aware that parts for this car are crazy expensive. I guess my thought about the hood struts is that functionally, they’re not much different than the struts found on every day drivers seen everywhere. I’ll check the links you provided.

No, it’s an 8000 mile car I purchased from a private party in Arizona.
