Default CGT coolant leak

Just got done with a 3hr drive and saw this:

Doesn’t look like normal expansion tank leakage to me. Has anyone experienced this? I am going to look and see if I can see a loose hose or a hole in a radiator.

My tech came to my house earlier today to change my battery for me because the car wouldn’t start or jump. Maybe he didn’t reconnect a coolant hose??

Anyone have any insight?

This morning:

Right radiator is wet and left is dry:

I probably caught a rock in the right one.

Why they made the radiators totally exposed in this era (not just CGT), I have no idea

So we welded the hole shut with silver solder and covered that with JB Weld to get it sealed. Appears to be holding fine, enough to finish the weekend and get home.

Will be doing my research on screens now; maybe Rennline or a dealer can help with that. Not going through this again if I can help it.

Good luck on the screen hunt. There are several threads on here where CGT owners have embarked on that mission. I think most point to the only place being Porsche Reading (UK) that fabricates some screens but they need even additional fabrication/install trickery. So I don’t know if anyone has successfully installed them other than having access to the Porsche Centre in Reading? If you find an “off the shelf” solution in the US, I think you would have a lot of people interested on this forum (including me).

I may try something like this. Just a sheet of honeycomb infront of radiator. Would be easy to install and could service/replace it annually.

I use the Nomex honeycomb screens over the rads in my Formula Atlantic , Works well, no loss of cooling just remember to clean them, The issue I see is getting into the nose area. Next major (Nov) I will have the nose off and can see how they fit..
I found some 1/4 honeycomb alum screening from our local Hardware store. I used it in the nose to cover the inlets. see:
