Default Carrera GT seat question

Gents,
Curious about larger XT and 'standard' size CGT seats. Are they the same shells, just different thickness of padding?

If so, wonder if the padding is easily removable from a 'standard' seat, and it can thus be replaced with something thinner to allow more wiggle room, like the larger seats?

Thanks in advance.

It was my understanding all CGT’s came in the XL size in US unless requested otherwise; I don’t know that I’ve actually seen a US CGT with non-XL seats?? So, good question.

XT bucket seat option 15mm wider hip area believe all padding is the same
Padding would be best to gain space - click link below

6 2 216 seats have some room but not a lot.

Thanks for replies. Nuvolari - Just to clarify, the XT bucket shell is actually wider than the standard seat, so not just a difference in the padding?

Believe it's shell and in the hip area only - the company link I posted would probably knows more but I believe all US were XT seats at least in 05 models. The 15mm in the hip may have a slightly better tilt for larger frame - pads I don't know if they are any different but many have changed / modified the inserts.

The buckets in my CGT are wider than the “CGT-style buckets” in my 997rs. The euro gt3 buckets (cgt-looking with alcantera centers or all-perlon) were the standard/narrower hip width. If you sit in them, you can tell they are a little more snug than the all-leather buckets of similar/same design in the CGT, because as stated before, all (or at least most all) of the US CGT’s were delivered with the wider bucket option. To this day, I haven’t seen a US cgt that doesn’t have the wider buckets. I’ve only seen euro-sourced 997 gt3 buckets (cgt-looking) that were the standard/narrow width.

Did the 997 ROW Buckets (CGT seats) come in multiple sizes. I sat in a set last year and was surprised how tight they were. I fit in the majority of seats, but those were uncomfortable.

Wouldn't mind getting a set of GT2 buckets for my 997 GT3, but being tall, the 997 GT2 buckets sit too high for me. I know there are seat lowering brackets, but I can't imagine an inch would make that much of a difference. I would probably have to have something custom made.

Idk. I’ve only seen the row 997 cgt-style buckets in the narrower size (yes, they are narrow) and the actual CGT seats only in the wider size.

I have liek 10. pairs of CGT look like seat for 997 and 2 pairs of CGT seats.
they all fit pretty much to me
32" waist

NOTE: CGT look like seat and CGT seats are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. the shell rake is different. if you plop yourself in them right after each other, the difference is really huge and obvious. I had 3 non car ppl (so they have no pre conceived notion) try seats. they all said the same.

I have an 04 with the US seat. I've driven the 05 with the XT seat and it's too much room for me (6' 180 lbs). My US seat feels more like my cup car without being uncomfortable for long drives. I like it so much better for the "twistys"..

I have 997 gen European club sport seats in my 3.8RS, the ones that look like CGT seats, and they are noticeably tighter.
